Using social media to increase business

Posted by James Dempster

A lot of our clients come to us with active social media channels, but nearly all of them ask the same question: “Is what I’m doing working?”
We love this question. One of the beautiful things about any online marketing activity is the ability to track what impact (if any) your messages are having. You may well have 22k followers, but are they the right followers and if they are, are they converting to customers?

Some things to consider:

· What time are you posting? You may think that 9 AM is the best time for your target audience, but have you measured this? If not, there are a host of free software options out there for you to track this.

· How many Facebook posts per day are you sending? A lot of companies seem to believe that 1 or 2 posts per day is the magic number, but using the Facebook Insights tool allows you to see how engaged your audience is. Use this free tool to alter and track your frequency.

· Use Google Analytics to track the users journey. What is the call to action? Do you want your follower to arrive on a dedicated landing page? Do you want them to fill in an enquiry form? Whatever activity you want them to undergo, track this within the goals section of GA.

· Using this information, examine which channels are actually driving traffic. Most companies have Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin and Pinterest, but are you actually getting any conversions from them? Sometimes it would be far better for you to focus on one or two channels, using them more effectively than spreading your content thinly across all of the thousands of channels!

At Cobb Digital we can create a strategy, man the channels and provide round the clock communications via any of the social media outlets. If you’d like to discuss how we can drive additional revenue to your business, give the team a call today.
