Getting digital at our client event

Posted by Lawrence Greenlee

If there’s one thing we love more than anything, it’s sharing our digital knowledge with some of our favourite people. Thursday 2nd November provided us with just that opportunity. We hosted an information-packed event at Hotel du Vin, designed to let our clients and friends pick our brains on all things digital.

We started the day with some Google goodness from our very own Online Director, Christian, before moving swiftly on to some interactive content fun with Engagement Manager, Allegra. After a short break and plenty of catching up, we kicked off round two, with a dive into social media with Allegra followed by an in-depth look at Akero software, with honorary Cobb team member, Alex Calder. The event was rounded off with a look at GDPR, which sparked a whole range of great questions from our audience!

For those of you who joined us, thank you so much! We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did, and took away some valuable insights. If you didn’t make it this time, never fear! Keep a beady eye on our blog as we’ll be sharing some of the highlights from each of our speakers’ talks. We’re also planning a whole host of delightful digital events in 2018, so look out for your invite!

As we said, we’ll be sharing each and every talk in more detail over the next few days. In the meantime, get a taste of the digital goodness to come with a few key snippets:

Changing the digital landscape, James Dempster:

With Brexit causing concern, UK retailers are feeling the strain.

Personalisation is more important than ever in an increasingly congested online sphere.

Users expect engaging, compelling digital marketing that tells a story.

Bitesize Google goodness, Christian Ryan:

Google’s new Attribution tool will land in early 2018.

The tool will make it easier for marketers to allocate success to each channel.

Shoppers are visiting stores with greater intent – “where to buy” searches are up 85% from 2015.

How do we market in a world that’s increasingly mobile and more skippable than ever?

Being more creative online, Allegra Chapman:

Just because your sector isn’t “creative” doesn’t mean your marketing shouldn’t be.

There’s a recipe for the perfect brand proposition…

Values and USPs + Audience Needs + Channels = Great Ideas!

Thinking bigger on social media, Allegra Chapman:

Social media is an essential tool for every business.

Why getting likes and follows is NOT the thing to chase.

Social media has an impact on SEO, PPC and email – it’s kind of a big deal.

Automation Plus, Alex Calder (Akero):

Akero is streamlining the way we build pages, A/B test, automate marketing and capture data.

Always bear in mind the four A’s: Audience, Assets, Actions and Activities.

Preparing for the GDPR, James Dempster:

The history of data protection legislation.

Not complying could be pretty pricey – fines will be €20m or 4% of annual turnover, whichever is higher.

Customers trust retailers the least when it comes to their data.
